This technique is wonderfully effective for clearing the ajna (third-eye) chakra and the Sahasrara (crown center). The only prerequisite is to be very comfortable with alternating nostril breathing (Nadi Shodana Part 1). Once you’ve learned this technique and are also very comfortable with the advanced chakra meditation, I strongly suggest learning horizontal chakra breathing. Combining horizontal with vertical chakra breathing will clear all your chakras like no other techniques, and profoundly deepen your experience of advanced chakra meditation. To add an additional punch, precede all of these with Ashvini Mudra with Maha Bandha.
One other note: In the instruction in the audio, I mention it’s important to only breathe naturally, normally (without deepening or exagerrating the breath in any way). As you get used to the technique, this natural breathing makes the practice itself every bit as effortless as breathing, which we all do 24 hours a day without any effort. That’s just how easy this technique can be!
Enjoy!

PS. Thanks to Swami Anandakapila Saraswati for first introducing me to this wonderful practice.
